Do I have to keep video on?

Edited

At Flow Club, we believe that keeping cameras on helps create a focused, accountable environment—similar to working in a café. This can make sessions more productive for you and others. This technique, known as body doubling, helps reduce distractions and boost motivation.

However, we recognize that everyone works differently, and there are many valid reasons to keep your camera off. Whether it’s for privacy, energy conservation, or sensory needs, your well-being comes first. You can always rejoin with your camera on when you’re ready.

Other things you can do to help keep your camera on:

  • Use a virtual background or background blur for privacy.

  • Turn off self-view so you don't have to see yourself.

Remember: no one is watching you closely—everyone is focused on their own work. Flow Club is about discovering what works best for you, and we have guidelines in place to ensure ensure a safe and supportive environment for all users.
