The host is given a few minutes to come in, after which we give up the controls for another host, if there are any in the session, to take over. This is so everyone can quickly check-in and get to work as soon as possible.

Those with hosting qualifications will be given the below dialogue:

If the host shows up after someone has taken over hosting duties, that host can simply participate as a regular participant. Hosting control cannot be transferred back to the original host.
