What happens if I miss or am late to my own session?

Please cancel ahead of time if you can. It takes five seconds and lets another host pick up your attendees. See How do I cancel a session I'm hosting?

If you don't cancel and you're not in the room 3 minutes after the start time, here's what happens automatically:

We ask any qualified host in the room to take over, so we can check-in and start the session.
If someone does, the session runs normally and is credited to them. If you show up later, you join as a regular participant. Hosting can't be handed back. Thank the host for taking over for you and do not contest it.

You'll get an email from us titled "Oh no! You missed your hosted session." It's a reminder, not a punishment.

Life happens, and missing a session here and there is fine. A pattern of no-shows, however, is not acceptable and makes the experience worse for everyone. Please consult Hosting Guidelines for how we help reinforce adequate behavior (a friendly reminder first, then a warning, then a break from hosting), because attendees plan around you and expect to get started on-time.
